Washington Rolls Past Milwaukee, 12-2
Published at(WASHINGTON) — Ryan Zimmerman belted a three-run home run as the Washington Nationals crushed the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, 12-2. With the victory, the Nats cut its magic number for winning the National League East to five games.
Nationals starting pitcher Jordan Zimmerman (12-8) gave up one earned run on four hits over 6 2-3 innings of work. He struck out seven while walking just two batters.
Washington broke the game open in the fourth when Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez lost the ball in the sun, allowing two runs to cross the plate. The Nats would go on to score six runs in the inning.
