Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Tell-All Sales Sag
Published at(LOS ANGELES) — Arnold Schwarzenegger made the media rounds to promote his book Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story, but Nielsen Bookscan numbers quoted by The Hollywood Reporter show all the publicity didn’t help sales much.
The book details not only Schwarzenegger’s career as a bodybuilder, action star and California governor, but also the affair with his former housekeeper that led to the birth of a son. However, for all its supposedly juicy revelations, the book only managed to sell 21,000 copies in the week after its Oct. 1 release.
By comparison, the trade notes, No Easy Day, a Navy SEAL’s account of the mission to find Osama bin Laden sold 254,000 copies in its first week. JK Rowlings’ first non-Harry Potter book, Casual Vacancy, sold 350,000 copies in just six days.
