(NEW YORK) — New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is set to undergo surgery on his broken left ankle this Saturday. Dr. Robert Anderson will perform the surgery in Charlotte, N.C. Recovery time is expected to take four to five months, according to the team.
The 38-year-old Jeter broke his ankle while trying to field a ground ball during Game 1 of the American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers.
Jeter is a five-time World Series champion.
