No. 16 Louisville Wins OT Thriller

Andy Lyons/Getty Images(LOUISVILLE, Ky) — In the battle for the keg of nails, No. 16 Louisville barely hammered home a win.
Kicker John Wallace hit a 30-yard field goal in overtime to give the Cardinals a 34-31 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats, improving their record to 8-0 on the season.
After an exciting game that saw both teams blow late leads, overtime was inevitable for these longtime Big East rivals, who have a 53-year-history of playing against one another.
Cincinnati (5-2) got the ball first in the extra session but quarterback Munchie Legaux was intercepted by Terrell Floyd in the endzone.
Louiisville got the ball back and drove 12 yards before attempting the game-winning field goal. Cincinnati coach coach Butch Davis called a timeout in an attempt to ice Wallace, and the high snap went through the holder’s hands. Had he not called timeout, Cincinnati would have had another chance to take the lead.
Teddy Bridgewater passed for 416 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. DeVante Parker was the recipient of both scores.
Legaux said all week that he was a better quarterback than Bridgewater, but struggled against the Cardinal defense, throwing three interceptions.
