(SAN FRANCISCO) — San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh is going with the hot hand, announcing on Wednesday that rookie quarterback Colin Kaepernick will get the start over Alex Smith on Sunday against the Rams.
“I’m just happy to be back out on the field,” Kaepernick said of the news.
Kaepernick has completed 48 of 74 passes for 680 yards and three touchdowns with one interception and was sacked six times in his first two NFL starts.
“Colin we believe has the hot hand and we’ll go with Colin,” Harbaugh said. “The players believe in both guys.”
