"Dog Whisperer" Cesar Millan Reveals Suicide Attempt

Valerie Macon/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- During a tough year in 2010, Cesar Millan, better known as the Dog Whisperer, attempted suicide. The admission is made by the 43-year-old in Cesar Millan: The Real Story, a documentary airing on Nat Geo Wild on November 25.

At one point Millan had been at the top of his game, with celebrity clients, a hit TV show and international recognition as an advocate for bully breeds. But soon after the loss of his 16-year-old pit bull Daddy in February of 2010, his wife of 16 years, Ilusion Millan, filed for divorce.

“I was at the lowest level I had ever been emotionally and psychologically,” Milan wrote on his blog in August.

After surviving an overdose, Millan plunged himself back into work and exercise. He also recently met Jahira Dar, whom he calls “the one.”

“I am a traditional guy, so I like to do the whole parent thing,” he said. “I know they are going to say yes, but I like the whole Cinderella story.”
