(HOMESTEAD, Fla.) — Joey Logano won the pole for Sunday’s final race of the Sprint Cup Series at Homestead on Friday. Marcos Ambrose will start second, followed by Brad Keselowski, who is seeking the Sprint Cup championship.
“This is supposed to be a great time and I want to treat it like that,” said Keselowski, who heads into Sunday up 20 points on Jimmie Johnson. “I want to have fun with it. This is the moment I’ve lived for my whole life.”
Logano is also a teammate of Keselowski and is racing his final race for Joe Gibbs Racing, but isn’t letting Keselowski’s pursuit of the championship get in the way of him trying to win the race as well.
“Goal number one is to win the race, no matter what,” Logano said. “No matter where we go, no matter who else is on the race track, no matter what is going on, it’s all about winning. That stuff doesn’t matter. Obviously, those guys are racing for a championship and I don’t want to be the guy that gets in the middle of that, but I’m out there to win.”
Keselowski only needs to finish 15th or better to claim his first career championship.
