Second ‘VatiLeaks’ Trial Begins
Published at(THE VATICAN) — Another trial is underway in the 19th century courtroom of the Vatican as the tiny city state rushes to put an end to the embarrassing Vatican leaks scandal that has dominated headlines in Rome for months.
The leaks scandal where some of the Pope’s documents were released to the press already has the Pope’s butler in jail. Now, a computer technician, Claudio Scapoletti, is on trial.
Scapoletti is accused of helping the Pope’s butler circulate confidential documents that reveal that Pope Benedict XVI is not in control of the Vatican and that corruption and kickbacks are widespread.
