TMZ.com reports the 26-year-old Mean Girls star will be charged by Santa Monica, Calif., prosecutors for allegedly lying to police about an accident this past June in which her Porsche struck a dump truck near Los Angeles.  According to TMZ, Lohan falsely claimed to police she was a passenger in, and not the driver of, the Porsche.

Charges against the actress reportedly could be filed this week.

TMZ further reports that prescription pills were found in Lohan’s possession after the accident.

Lohan is currently on informal probation in a 2011 shoplifting case.  Sources with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office tell TMZ they are “gathering information” regarding the potential charges against her.

RadarOnline claims prosecutors want the star to do “significant jail time” over the incident.

An insider tells the site, “Prosecutors are extremely frustrated that Lindsay continues to act as if she is above the law and feel that the judicial system hasn’t punished her harshly enough for her to stop her wild antics.”

Last month, New York City prosecutors declined to charge Lohan in connection with an incident in which she was accused of striking a man in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.
