Arizona Stuns Nevada In Gildan New Mexico Bowl

Banana Stock/Getty Images(ALBUQUERQUE, NM) — What a wild way to kick off bowl season.

Arizona scored two touchdowns in the final 42 seconds to complete a stunning comeback victory over Nevada in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl in what will be remembered as one of the most exciting bowl game finishes in recent memory.

The Wildcats (8-5) trailed 21-0 in the first quarter and 48-35 with less than a minute to go.  Quarterback Matt Scott threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Austin Hill to bring them within six.  After recovering the onside kick, Scott threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Terrrance Miller with 19 seconds remaining to take their only lead of the game.

Scott passed for 382 yards, three scores, and two interceptions. 

Ka’Deem Carey, the nation’s leading rusher ran for 172 yards and three touchdowns for Arizona.

Nevada’s Stehphon Jefferson ran for 180 yards and two scores for Nevada, who ended their season with a 7-6 record.
