(RIGBY) – Jefferson Elementary School in Rigby is considering implementing a language immersion program starting next fall.
Principal Michele Southwick is urging the school to introduce a Chinese language program that would begin in Kindergarten where students will only be allowed to learn in Chinese until first grade. Southwick claims most countries introduce language immersion classes to students much sooner than middle school or high school.
The plans will only continue if there is enough support from parents and over 60 students register for the classes by February.
