(BOSTON) — The flying Hawaiian will be patrolling the walls of Fenway Park come 2013. Shane Victorino was introduced to the Boston faithful on Thursday after he signed a three-year, 39-million dollar deal with the Red Sox.
Victorino has been a center fielder the majority of his career but will be in right come 2013 and was asked about tracking down balls in the big outfield.
“It’s a big right field, but I’m always up for the challenge,” said Victorino. “I’m going to work hard in spring training.”
So why did he choose the Red Sox?
“The tradition, the history, the makeup of the team,” said Victorino.
And what about all the personalities in the clubhouse he’ll be joining?
“They’re high energy, fun guys,” said Victorino. “I’m excited to be here and just fit in.”
