(MISSOULA, Mont.) – State wildlife officials in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming say regulated trophy hunts for grizzly bears could be on the horizon.
Federal protections for grizzlies in the areas surrounding Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks could be lifted before 2014. The proposed hunts would be conducted in areas where run-ins with humans and livestock attacks are frequent.
Officials plan to meet in Missoula to consider adopting a pro-hunting policy next week.
