Salmon School District Adopts Snow Closure Policy

  Published at

(SALMON) – The Salmon School District has adopted a new policy aimed at promoting safety during heavy snowfall.

All schools in the district will close if snow exceeds 3.5 pounds per square foot on any of the district’s buildings.

At least two schools are several decades old and aren’t up to code, raising concerns about how much snow the buildings can hold without the risk of collapse.

An automated phone system will notify parents in the event of a closure if the shut down isn’t announced before the start of a given school day.
