(NEW YORK) — The New York Yankees and former Boston Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis have verbally agreed to a one-year, $12 million contract, according to sources.
The deal is pending a physical according to baseball officials with knowledge of the talks.
Youkilis played eight seasons for the Yankees’ arch rival Red Sox, before being traded last season to the Chicago White Sox.
The 33-year-old Youkilis will play third base for the Yankees while Alex Rodriguez recovers from hip surgery.
Youkilis hit .235 with 19 home runs and 60 RBIs last season.
