“The Hobbit” Tops the Box Office for Third Straight Weekend
Published at(NEW YORK) — The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey triumphed at the box office for the third consecutive weekend, earning an estimated $32.9 million.
The Lord of the Rings prequel finished ahead of all three Christmas Day releases, including Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, which landed in the runner-up spot with $30.7 million. Django Unchained has made $64 million since its debut.
Les Miserables rounded out the top three, collecting $28 million over the weekend. It has earned $67.5 million since Christmas Day.
The Billy Crystal-Bette Midler comedy Parental Guidance finished in fourth place, raising $14.8 million over the weekend. It has made $29.6 million in its first five days of release.
