Adam Levine to Host — But Not Sing — on “Saturday Night Live”
(NEW YORK) -- When Maroon 5 appeared on Saturday Night Live late last year, you probably wondered why lead singer Adam Levine didn't appear in any sketches. After all, he just finished shooting his first movie, and he had a part on American Horror Story, so he can presumably act. Well, maybe he was saving up his talents ... because now he's returning to the show as the host.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adam will deliver the monologue -- and more -- on the Jan. 26 episode of the show. But Adam won't be pulling double duty as both the host and the musical guest -- rapper Kendrick Lamar will provide the musical entertainment for the night. There is a precedent for musicians who've hosted the show without being the musical guest: Sting, Paul Simon, Jon Bon Jovi and Justin Timberlake have all done it, for example.
Along with Maroon 5, Adam has performed on Saturday Night Live four times. When it comes to non-musical activities on the show, Adam appeared in the digital short Iran So Far with Adam Samberg and Fred Armisen a few years ago. Last year, he made a very brief cameo in another digital short called The Stand Off with Jeremy Renner.
