(PARIS) — Midfielder David Beckham signed a five-month contract with Paris Saint-Germain of French Ligue 1 on Thursday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the 37-year-old Beckham announced that he would be donating his entire salary to a children’s charity in Paris.
“It’s something exciting and I’m not sure it’s been done before,” Beckham said of his gesture. “It’s something I’m very passionate about, children and the charity side of things and so are the clubs.”
Beckham is coming off a six-year stint in Major League Soccer with the Los Angeles Galaxy, during which he won two MLS Cups. Before that, he won titles with Manchester United and Real Madrid.
