Biden Takes Gun Control Message to Virginia
Published at(WASHINGTON) — As Congressional Democrats push new laws prohibiting sales of military-style rifles and high-capacity magazines, Vice President Joe Biden takes his campaign on the road.
On Friday, Biden will take his case to Virginia Commonwealth University, where he’ll hold a roundtable with cabinet officials and experts on gun violence.
In an online chat Thursday, Biden argued the administration’s proposals aren’t meant to take guns away from law-abiding citizens.
“I don’t view it as gun control. I view it as gun safety,” he said during his first ever Google+ “Fireside Hangout.”
An ABC News/Washington Post poll this week shows a slight majority of Americans are in favor of the proposals. But the National Rifle Association says Americans know “gun bans do not work.”
