(GREEN BAY, Wis.) — Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy announced Tuesday that defensive back Charles Woodson has been cleared by doctors to play Saturday in the team’s wild-card game against the Minnesota Vikings.
The eight-time Pro Bowler hasn’t played since Week 7 after breaking his collarbone.
“I just think having Charles Woodson back on the field helps our football team,” McCarthy said. “I mean, just what he’s meant to our defense, his playmaking ability, his ability to make plays at the line of scrimmage. He’s extremely productive, so I’m just glad to have him back on the field.”
After playing cornerback for the first 14 seasons of his career, Woodson has played mostly at strong safety this season.
