Drew Brees Ready for 2013
(NEW YORK) -- New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees went through a difficult season. The team went 7-9 and they had to deal with a bounty scandal in which their head coach Sean Payton was suspended all season.
With 2012 in the books, the seven-time Pro Bowler and the Saints are looking forward to a fresh start in 2013.
"We've got to get back to just the basic fundamentals of offense and defense," Brees told Tommy Byrne of ABC Sports Radio. "Last year's record was a product of us just not making a few plays in critical situations in certain games."
Next year's Super Bowl will be played outside in New Jersey at MetLife Stadium and Brees wasn't fazed by possibly playing in the cold if the Saints are fortunate enough to make it there.
"We're all excited about it, it's different. The timing of this is going to be really good because what happened with Hurricane Sandy it will really rally a lot people around the New York New Jersey areas and really help expedite the recovery process," he said. "We can kind of turn this into a really big positive where everybody's coming together and help that region recover."
Since winning the Super Bowl in 2009, Brees has had two more children and hopes he can share a moment like he did with his son Baylen with his other two. "I feel like I owe it to the other two to give them a moment like that," he said.
