(MINNEAPOLIS) — Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is expected to miss eight to ten weeks after finding out he will require surgery on his broken right hand, the team announced Wednesday.
Love, who broke the same hand earlier this season, suffered the injury during the teams 101-97 victory over the Denver Nuggets last week.
Love joins a list of injured Wolves that includes Brandon Roy, Chase Budinger and Josh Howard. Point guard Ricky Rubio is also playing on a part time basis as the Wolves gradually bring him back from a torn ACL.
Love is in the first year of a $62 million contract extension he signed last January. In 18 games played this season, the 6-foot-10 Love has averaged 18.3 points and 14 rebounds per game.
