Victoria Beckham: ‘I’m a Control Freak’

Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic(LONDON) — Victoria Beckham puts all of her efforts into her career in the fashion industry so she can assume full control. It’s also a world where she feels she belongs.
In an interview in the March issue of Elle UK, Beckham admits that she likes to be in charge of things.
“You’ve got to trust people. And because I am a control freak, sometimes that’s difficult for me, because I want to micro-manage absolutely everything,” she explains.
“I can’t hand over. But I’m trying to do that more. It’s hard because I have such a specific vision,” says Beckham.
Beckham, otherwise known as Posh Spice, declares, “I don’t have to work, I need to work. All these people [her fellow fashion designers], they’ve not just been given anything. They’ve worked hard. And I’ve never been given anything either. But I have a good work ethic.”
Beckham adds, “I want my kids to have a good work ethic. I believe you can achieve anything if you work hard enough to get it.”
Having her own career is a way for her to step out of the shadow of her former band mates and her soccer superstar husband, David Beckham.
“When I was on stage with the Spice Girls, I thought people were there to see the other four and not me. And when I go out with David and people take pictures I think, ‘They’re here to take David’s picture,'” says Victoria.
The future is somewhat of an open book for the Beckhams and their four children. David has finished up his contract with the L.A. Galaxy, which means the family could now re-locate to another city — or country.
“We are starting a new chapter in our lives; as a family we are all very excited about what lies ahead for 2013,” adds Victoria.
