Giants Agree to Two-Year Deal with Sergio Romo
Published at(SAN FRANCISCO) — The San Francisco Giants and reliever Sergio Romo agreed on a $9 million, two-year contract Wednesday, avoiding salary arbitration.
The 29-year-old Romo made $1,575,000 last season, and asked for $4.5 million this season.
Romo served as the teams main closer in the 2012 postseason, recording one win, four saves and a 0.84 ERA, while striking out Detroits’ Miguel Cabrera for the final out of the World Series.
Romo went 4-2 with a 1.79 ERA, 14 saves and a 0.85 WHIP during the regular season last year.
