Hal Steinbrenner Concerned About A-Rod
Published at(TAMPA, Fla.) — Count New York Yankees general managing partner Hal Steinbrenner as among those concerned about third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
Among reports of Rodriguez’s continuing performance enhancing drug use, Steinbrenner voiced his worries and said the situtation is “a concern, but it’s out of our hands.”
The Miami New Times reported last month that Rodriguez bought human growth hormone in the last couple of years from a now-closed clinic in Miami called Biogenesis of America LLC.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez will be out of action for the first half of the season while recovering from hip surgery. The Yankees signed former Red Sox Kevin Youkilis to help fill the void, and Steinbrenner is optismistic he can help out.
“I’ve always liked Kevin,” Steinbrenner said. “He always seemed like a good leader, a hard worker and a very enthusiastic — loves the game — kind of guy. And that’s the kind of guy we want.”
