(REXBURG, ID)  — The trial has begun for a Rexburg man accused of sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl in 2009.  Eighty-two-year-old Ronald Bird was arrested three years ago on five felony sexual abuse and lewd conduct charges. Bird’s attorney denies that his client had any contact of a sexual nature with the alleged victim, though their was “touching.” Prosecutors say the girl was a neighbor who would come to Bird’s house to play. If convicted, Bird could spend the rest of his life in prison. He has remained free on bond since his arrest.
