Jeter broke his ankle in the postseason against the Tigers on Oct. 1 and underwent successful surgery a week later.  The 38-year-old practiced on-field running drills for the second straight day on Sunday.

“Physically, he’s capable of doing everything,” Cashman said. “We’re being very cautious.”

Jeter is aiming to be on the field for opening day on April 1 against the Boston Red Sox.

“When I first got here, I was a couple weeks behind what everyone was doing anyway, so on that schedule, I don’t see any reason why not,” Jeter said.

The 13-time All-Star batted .316, had 216 hits, and 58 RBI’s in 2012.
