Yankees’ Derek Jeter Won’t Speak on Alex Rodriguez Doping Allegations
Published at(TAMPA, Fla.) — With the latest drama to surround Alex Rodriguez surrounding the New York Yankees, shortstop Derek Jeter defended his teammate.
Last week, A-Rod’s name popped up in a report by The Miami New Times. The paper reported that Rodriguez, along with several other Major Leaguers, obtained human growth hormones and other PED’s from a now-closed anti-aging clinic in Coral Gables.
With the Yankees getting ready to report to spring training in the upcoming weeks, Jeter told reporters that he’s withholding his statement until Rodriguez addresses the allegations.
“I don’t comment on anyone until they speak first,” Jeter said. “Let him address his situation before I comment on it. Let him speak first and then we’ll talk about that.”
Rodriguez, who has been with the Yankees since 2004, has won two MVP Awards since then. Still, he has had trouble staying on the field in recent years. Over the past five years, Rodriguez has missed at least 24 games per season.
