(DAYTON, Ohio) — The second-seeded Buckeyes (27-7) blew by the Iona (20-14) Gaels 95-70 in the second round of the West Regional on Friday.
Ohio State forward Deshaun Thomas lead the team with 24, followed by forward Sam Thompson, who scored a career-high 20 points in the rout.
“We have a lot of confidence,” Thompson said. “We know that if we come out and do the things we’re supposed to do on both sides of the ball, we could beat any team in the country.”
Ohio State was up ten at the half before pouring on 52 points in the second half. Iona guard Tavon Sledge scored 20 points in the loss.
Iona is now 1-9 all-time in the tournament with their only win — over Holy Cross in 1980.
