(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – Idaho’s honey production is down two percent. In spite of the decrease in production, Idaho’s honey colonies have increased by more than 9,000. Experts say the cool, wet spring last year kept plants from blossoming earlier, resulting in less pollen and less honey. Honey production has dropped one percent in the past year nationwide – a trend federal officials attribute to pesticides used on crops in several western states.
