(BOISE, ID) — Idaho’s marriage rate has reached its lowest point in 60 years. The state Department of Health and Welfare reports that there were 8.6 marriages per 1,000 residents in 2011. That’s down from 8.8 in 2010. The national rate is still much lower at 6.8. Officials say the number of divorces and births also dropped, in spite of a 1.1 percent increase in the state’s population over the same period.
