(NEW ORLEANS) — The women’s Louisville Cardinals (29-8) team punched their ticket to the national title game with a 64-57 win over California (32-4) on Sunday.
A day after the Men’s team did the same; Antonita Slaughter led her team to victory with 18 points, all coming courtesy from behind the arch.
California was up 37-27 at the half, but head coach Jeff Walz made sure his team came out firing in the second half.
“We’re going to go on Bourbon Street,” said an excited Walz. “I’ll tell the kids, as long as they’re back by 2, we’re OK.”
Layshia Clarendon scored 17 in the loss for California.
“Credit Louisville, which obviously has been really hot,” Cal coach Lindsay Gottlieb said. “They outfought us in the second half.”
