The 73-year-old Nix took over as GM in 2010 after Bills president Russ Brandon decided to hand over the position to focus on the team’s business operations.

During Nix’s tenure, the Bills went 16-32 including consecutive 6-10 seasons under former head coach Chan Gailey, who was let go at the end of last season. In his last major acts as general manager, Nix hired new coach Doug Marrone from Syracuse and drafted quarterback E.J. Manuel out of Florida State

The team did not immediately name a replacement for Nix.
