(TWIN FALLS, ID) – The global demand for Idaho’s booming cheese industry is on the rise. Experts say a growing demand for cheese in China, coupled with struggling diary farms in Europe has increased prices from $1.60 per pound to $1.85. China’s imports of milk powder has also shot up 600 percent since 2008. Officials say a major drought in the South Pacific has crippled New Zealand’s dairy industry, making room for growth in other parts of the world, especially in Idaho.
