(WAZIRISTAN, Pakistan) — In an early morning attack, two missiles targeted a compound in a Kot Qazi village in Pakistan, sources tell ABC News. Three alleged militants have been killed and at least three others injured in the attack.
This is the first drone strike since President Obama’s speech at the National Defense University on counterterrorism strategy in which he spoke at length about the drone program, calling it legal, effective and crucial to counter-terrorism efforts.
On the other hand, the Pakistani government remains critical of drone attacks on Pakistani territory, calling them, “illegal and contrary to counterterrorism efforts”.
The issue of drone strikes in Pakistan will remain a major challenge in the U.S.-Pakistan relationship for the new government set to take charge there next week.
