(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) — Kicker John Kasay signed a one-day contract with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, and promptly retired with the team he spent 15 seasons with.
Kasay began his NFL career in 1991 when he was drafted in the fourth round by the Seattle Seahawks. He came to the then-expansion Carolina Panthers in 1995 as a free agent. The former Pro Bowler stayed in Charlotte through the 2010 season. He last played in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints in 2011.
During his 20-year career on the gridiron, the 43-year-old Kasay converted 461 of 563 field goals. He is ranked sixth all-time in field goals made, fifth in field goal percentage and eighth in points.
