“Visit from Dr. [Bryan] Kelly over the weekend, who gave me the best news – the green light to play games again!” Rodriguez tweeted.

Cashman was not too pleased to hear A-Rod was making his injury updates publicly.

“You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will],” Cashman told ESPN New York. “Alex should just shut the f— up. That’s it. I’m going to call Alex now.”

Rodriguez has yet to play in 2013 as he recovers from hip surgery.

On Wednesday morning, Rodriguez released a statement through a spokesman that “the tweet was pure excitement,” and that he is working hard to get back on the field for the team.

The 37-year-old Rodriguez has been linked to the Biogenesis clinic investigation going on with Major League Baseball and could face a 100-game suspension.

The Yankees still owe Rodriguez more than $100 million through 2017.
