Idaho Fourth in the Nation for Drownings

(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – As the weather starts to heat up, there are plenty of locals looking for a place to cool down. However, you may want to think twice before hitting the old swimming hole. According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control, Idaho ranks fourth in the nation for drowning deaths. Authorities say many of those deaths occur in irrigation canals, which also pose a health hazard. They note that canals are filled with potentially dangerous bacteria like E. coli and salmonella
