(KETCHUM, ID) – The family of an Idaho soldier captured by the Taliban in 2009 has received what they believe to be a letter from their son. Bob Bergdahl says his 27-year-old son Bowe is alive and well, though his letter was heavily redacted and likely scripted. Bergdahl walked off his post four years ago this month during a time when his family says he was dissatisfied with the military and the war in Afghanistan. Bergdahl was later picked up by insurgents and is believed to be held by the Haqqani Network in the tribal areas of northern Pakistan.
