(ATLANTA) — Braves starting pitcher Julio Teheran tossed 7 2-3 innings of no-hit ball as Atlanta blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, 5-0.
The 22-year-old Teheran (4-2) took a no-hitter into the eighth before allowing a two-out single to Pirates pinch-hitter Brandon Inge. He finished the game allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out 11 in eight innings of work.
The Braves offense received a jolt in the bottom of the sixth inning when Evan Gattis and Gerald Laird belted back-to-back home runs.
The Atlanta Braves improved to 37-22 on the season while the Pittsburgh Pirates fall to 35-25.
