(LOS ANGELES) — Los Angeles Dodgers rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig has been named the National League Player of the Week.
The Dodgers called up Puig last Monday from Double-A Chattanooga. In his first seven big-league career games, the 22-year-old batted .464 with four home runs and 10 RBIs.
Los Angeles signed Puig out of Cuba last summer to a seven-year contract worth $42 million. He is the first Dodgers rookie to win the award since Andre Ethier in 2006.
