At least 51 people were killed Monday following a violent incident at the Republican Guard army barracks in Cairo, where the Muslim Brotherhood alleges Morsi is being held.  Hundreds more were injured.

Protesters say that the military began firing on them during a sit-in while army commanders claim they were trying to repel an armed provocation.

Interim President Adly Mansour expressed his government’s sorrow over the loss of life and pledged an investigation into the incident.

However, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the Brotherhood’s political wing, maintains that Mansour and the military that removed Morsi from power are “trying to steal their revolution with tanks.”

There was also more fallout from Monday’s violence at the military barracks, with the hardline Salafist Nour party saying it would not take part in talks to choose an interim prime minister.

The group supported Morsi’s ouster but was unhappy with the initial choice of prime minister, Mohamed ElBaradei, the former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
