Kirk Irwin/Getty Images(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio State suspended running back Carlos Hyde for at least the first three games of the upcoming season on Tuesday.

The suspension comes after the Columbus police closed an alleged assault case against Hyde.

“Carlos Hyde will be suspended for at least the first three games of the 2013 season for conduct not representative of this football program or this university,” Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said in the release. “He will be required to fulfill additional obligations before he is allowed to play in a game.”

Columbus police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner said the alleged assault victim chose not to pursue charges against Hyde.

Hyde recorded 17 touchdowns last season for Ohio State, who finished 12-0.
