Weight Bullying May Lead Victim to Gain More Pounds

Creatas/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Discriminating against people because of their weight may lead them to pack on more pounds, a new study finds.
The survey found that people who did feel discrimination based on their weight were 2.5 times more likely to be obese when researchers followed up with them. People who were already overweight were three times more likely to remain overweight if they experienced discrimination.
The study supports the idea that weight discrimination has physiological impacts as well as psychological impacts.
