(CLEVELAND) –The Cleveland Indians designated infielder Mark Reynolds for assignment on Thursday.
After spending the previous two seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, Reynolds signed a one-year contract worth $6 million with Cleveland in December.
In 99 games with the Indians, the 30-year-old batted just .215 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs. He struck out 123 times in 335 at-bats and hit just two homers since May.
The Indians called up reliever Preston Guilmet from Triple-A Columbus to take Reynolds’ roster spot.
