This is the first civil suit to reach a settlement in the Sandusky case.

In June 2012, Sandusky was convicted on 45 counts of child sex abuse, including corruption of minors and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. Sandusky, 69, was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison, CNN reports.

The victim, now 25-years-old, spoke at Sandusky’s sentencing.

“It will never make me whole… He must pay for his crimes, take into account the tears, the pain, the private anguish… Because of you, I trust no one,” he said, according to CNN.

The victim will receive a “fair” and “adequate” compensation, according to his lawyer.

“My client is relieved… This has been a long process… a very public reliving of horror he experienced as a child,” the victim’s lawyer said, according to CNN.

Penn State University will have 30 additional suits in the Sandusky case.
