Henrik Stenson Wins the Deutsche Bank Championship
Published at(NORTON, Mass.) — Henrik Stenson won the Deutsche Bank Championship on Monday, shooting a 5-under 66 to defeat runner-up Steve Stricker by two strokes.
After finishing as the runner-up in the British Open and a World Golf Championship, and tying for third at the PGA Championship, Stenson is happy to finally have a trophy.
“I’m just pleased I won here,” said Stenson, who tied the tournament record at 22-under 262. “This was a big goal of mine to win a golf tournament after all those nice finishes. My family is here. I’m going to see my kids in a little bit. It’s all good.”
Tiger Woods shot 4-under for the tournament to finish in a tie for 65th.
“It wasn’t my week,” Woods said. “I didn’t play well and didn’t make anything, so consequently I wasn’t close to the lead.
