(LOS ANGELES) — After making a string of movies in recent years that bore mixed results at the box office, Katherine Heigl is eying a return to television.
The former Grey’s Anatomy actress will executive produce and star in a drama pilot for NBC, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the untitled project, she’ll play a CIA officer who becomes the “president’s daily briefer” and monitors threats against the country.
Heigl is quoted by The Hollywood Reporter as saying, “The story is not only compelling and intelligent but a look behind the curtain at the CIA we haven’t seen before in film or television. I am thrilled and honored to have been asked to be a part of developing these stories and this character and bringing it all to life.”
Heigl starred on Grey’s Anatomy for six seasons before leaving the ABC medical drama in 2010. After leaving the show, the Knocked Up and 27 Dresses actress appeared in the films Killers, Life as We Know It, New Year’s Eve, One for the Money and The Big Wedding.
