Florida Congressman Alan Grayson happens to be a Democrat and one of the most liberal voices in Congress.

Grayson, who will vote against the resolution, says the phone calls and emails he and other lawmakers are receiving from constituents are running 100-to-one against attacking Syria for what the White House claims was a sarin nerve gas attack that killed 1,400 people on Aug. 21.

The Democrat says he won’t bother with procedural tactics to waylay the House vote because opposition to the resolution is overwhelming.

Grayson also predicted that President Obama won’t move ahead on his own if he doesn’t get congressional approval because it would be inconsistent with how he’s conducted his presidency since 2009.

As for a smoking gun that might sway House lawmakers, Grayson says there won’t be one because up to now, “I heard nothing new.”
