(NEW YORK) — Olivia Wilde made the first move on fiance Jason Sudeikis, not the other way around.
The actress says in the October issue of Allure, “I met Jason, and I thought he was so charming. He’s a great dancer, and I’m a sucker for great dancers. But he didn’t even get my number. Over the next six months we kept running into each other. [One night] my best guy friend walked up to him and said, ‘This is Olivia’s number. Use it.’ That was the beginning.”
Wilde, 29, and Sudeikis, 37, announced their engagement earlier this year and have gushed openly about their love for each other ever since.
Wilde caused a media storm when she compared her sexual stamina with Sudeikis to “Kenyan marathon runners.” She explained to Allure that she made the comment while delivering a monologue on oversharing.
Still, she sought advice from Sudeikis’ We’re the Millers co-star, Jennifer Aniston, about weathering the storm.
“I reached out to Jen, who has, of course, been through the wringer, and I explained the situation and I said I needed advice on how to deal with these things,” Wilde tells Allure. “She wrote me one of the most gracious, wise emails describing her journey and really wonderful words of advice about how to deal with it. And in the end, I think I would do it all again exactly the same way.”
Wilde, whose latest movie is Rush opposite Chris Hemsworth, says her wedding plans are “slowly developing,” adding that it should be a “funny, silly wedding.”
“I just hope no one ends up flying a stupid helicopter over it or anything dumb like that,” Wilde tells Allure.
As a child of two journalists, the actress grew up unfazed by celebrity.
“There was definitely a sense that no one was interesting because they were famous. They were interesting because of what they did,” she tells the magazine. “And that has stuck with me, because when people say, ‘Oh, you’ve made it. Isn’t it great? You’re famous.’ I’m like, Ugh. That’s sort of a side effect. It’s like the side effect of a medicine: ‘You may experience anal itching and fame.’”
